Napa Hai Nature Reserve
"Napahai", which means "a lake by the forest" in Tibetan, is 5 kilometers from the seat of Shangri-la. At an elevation of 3,260 meters, the Napahai Lake is 10 kilometers from north to south, 2.5 kilometers from east to west, and belongs to the Jinsha River system.
The Napahai Lake is a seasonal lake with a water area of 500 hectares in the dry season. Black-necked cranes come to dwell here every September and October and migrate away in the coming February and March.
