Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Kunming-Baoshan

Our friendly staff and Guide will meet you at the Kunming airport. A city tour to the downtown region. Take an afternoon flight from Kunming to Baoshan.

Day 2: Baoshan-Liuku

Drive to Liuku(200km, 3~4 hour's drive). We will first check into our hotel, where we will have a little rest, and then a nice walking in evening in Liuku Town, enjoy local tea in evening. OR if we have chosen to start the tour during the Chinese Spring Festival (January-February), it is the time for the Lisu minority people living in this region to celebrate their Kuoshi Festival(New Year festival). On festival days, the Lisu people dress in their holiday best, bring their families to the river region, set up their yurts close to the river bank or in nearby fields, and come together on sandy beaches for Zaotanghui (public bath). An important folk song competition is also held as part of the festival. Enjoy the bonfire, dancing and singing with local minorities.

Day 3: Liuku-Pianma-Liuku

Upon arrive at Pianma, we will sightseeing in the Nujiang Grand Valley on the way, The Nujiang Grand Valley running from northwest Yunnan to Tibet lies in a narrow strip of land bordering Myanmar, sandwiched to the west by Gaoligong Mountain range and the Biluo Mountain range on the east. It runs through one of China's remotest areas, with carved canyons running through it. However, due to its inaccessibility, the Nujiang River has never been a popular tourism destination. And visit the Yaojiaping virgin forest and the Green Canyon, the Former location of "The hump" ariport. And also the Chinese & Myanmar border. Back to Liuku.

Day 4: Liuku-Fugong

Drive to Fugong (5~6 hour's drive). Fugong, 123km north of Liuku, mainly populated by the Lisu tribe. There are rice terraces just outside the town centre on the slopes all along the river, easily accessible by walking. We will visit Laohu tiao (Tiger Leaping Gorge), Feilai shi (A huge stone caussed by Landslide). Enjoy the bonfire in evening with local Lisu people.

Day 5: Fugong-Gongshan-Bingzhongluo

Drive from Fugong to Gongshan (4-hour's drive), the scenery just got better and better: the river twisted and turned, the valley sides became steeper and there were huge crags and mountains rising beyond-Myanmar was only a few km away over the crest of these green hills. We will pass the famous Shi yue liang, the so-called "bright moon in the mountain", about an hour outside of Fugong, and source of many Lisu and Nu folkstories. Stop to see the first Bend of the Nujiang River (Salween River) and Mt. Gaoligong. You could also try crossing the Nujiang River hanging from a rope, the Liusuo, a traditional way to cross the river in the olden days when there was no bridge. Then drive to Bingzhongluo (2-hour's drive).

Day 6: Bingzhongluo-Wuli Village-Gongshan

Pay a visit to catholic church, and enjoy the local food in Nu people's Family. The most beautiful part of Nujiang Grand Valley starts from Binzhongluo. Bingzhongluo is another one-street town. It has a strong Tibetan flavor as most of the inhabitants around it are Tibetans and Nus and it is very close to Tibet itself. Drive back to Gongshan.

Day 7: Gongshan-Laomudeng-Liuku

Drive from Gongshan to Liuku (8~9 hour's drive), we will stop at Laomudeng on the way, which is a Nu stronghold high up in the mountains of the valley, about three hours from Fugong.

Day 8: Liuku-Baoshan-Kunming

Drive back to Baoshan, and take an evening flight from Baoshan to Kunming. Enjoy a mushroom hotpot as dinner.

Day 9: Kunming-Home

Transfer to the airport, and see you off.
